The Strong Journey from Iron Ore to GOYAL TMT

1. Iron Ore Mining: The process begins with the extraction of iron ore from mines. This is done by large companies who have mining licenses. Iron ore is a primary source of iron and is typically found in the form of hematite or magnetite.

2. Iron Making: The extracted iron ore undergoes smelting in a blast furnace to produce pig iron or sponge iron. In the case of sponge iron, direct reduction processes such as the Madre or HYL process are employed to convert iron ore into sponge iron pellets.

3. Steel Making: At Goyal Ispat, we import this Sponge iron or pig iron, which is mixed with scrap and is then refined in a steelmaking furnace (electric arc furnace) to produce liquid steel. During this process, impurities like carbon, sulfur, and phosphorus are removed, and alloying elements are added as per the desired steel grade.

4. Casting: The liquid steel is cast into semi-finished products- billets, through continuous casting or ingot casting processes.

5. Hot Rolling: The semi-finished products are then heated and passed through a series of rolling mills at elevated temperatures. This hot rolling process reduces the thickness and shapes the steel into long sections like GOYAL TMT BAR, GOYAL I-Beam and GOYAL Channel.

6. Thermo-Mechanical Treatment: In the case of GOYAL TMT, the hot-rolled steel bars are then subjected to a controlled cooling process followed by reheating and rapid quenching in water. This process, known as quenching and tempering, imparts desirable mechanical properties to the steel, such as high strength, toughness, and ductility.

7. Finishing: After the TMT process, the steel bars undergo surface treatment processes like straightening, cutting, and bundling to meet custom requirements.

8. Quality Control: Throughout the entire process, stringent quality control measures are implemented to ensure that the steel meets the required standards and specifications for strength, composition, and dimensional accuracy.

9. Distribution and Use: Finally, the GOYAL TMT bars are packaged and distributed to wholesalers, retailers, hardware shops, and construction sites where they are used in various structural applications such as building foundations, columns, and reinforcement in concrete structures.

Overall, the journey from sponge to GOYAL TMT steel involves a series of sophisticated processes aimed at enhancing the mechanical properties and performance of the steel, making it an essential material in modern construction projects.
